2000 Skoda Felicia noisy engine tappets, exhaust manifold leak or maybe wrong oil?

Car: Skoda Felicia
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.3
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I just brought a used skoda felicia 2000 with a 1.3 engine. Seems to be a great car and are really happy with it apart from a little bit of engine noise ,very faint tick tick tick. The lady told me her husband changed the oil to a 'winter oil' maybe better suited for colder climates. I'm not sure what the noise is but if i changed the oil to a thicker one could this quiten down the engine at all?

Anyone any ideas?

Could be the valve tappets, its a realatively cheap repair- take it to your local garage and get them to have a look.

Hi, find out if you don’t already no if your valves are hydraulically charged. If they are go and get some Wins hydraulic lifting cleaning fluid. Just poor this into the engine oil and run for about 500 miles. Your need to change the oil and filter after this. This worked on a K reg Cavalier sri I had. Good luck and worth the £7 odd pound it will cost you.

these are generally noisey engines anyway, but if it is excessive then it will be top end or timing chain also fuel injectors are noisey on these models
