Hey folks, started my car the other day and it took about 3 seconds of the key been turned to start (almost like if battery was dead). When it started it sounded like a tractor! Drove it up the road and there was no power at all. Changing from 1st to 2nd gear was like changing from 1st to 4th! So I decided to turn the car back home. Tried it again about 5minutes later and it was grand. It has done this about 4 times in the past 3weeks (not as extreme as the first time). I usually let the car warm up in the morning before driving it and regularly check for oil so I can’t understand why this is happening - could it be the spark plugs?

You could have a few faults . Could be starter fault or a weak battery , noisy engine could be due to lack of oil circulation on start up . Might be plugs or even engine coolant temp sensor which could cause bad running .If you haven't had oil and filter changed for a while , might be worth doing using a good , correct type/ grade of oil .

do you ever start the car from cold and turn it straight off for example to move it a short distance to let another car off the driveway if so it might be flooding the spark plugs with fuel due to it putting in extra fuel to cold start

I have had my car from new (March 10 plate). Only problems I've had is leaking back windows until today. On my way to work all was fine then suddenly lost power in second gear. It starts ok and I can get clutch control but the minute I put it in second gear there was no power at all. It has been towed. Any ideas what could cause this, it's just had a full service in November.
