2001 Skoda Fabia engine fluctuates?

Hi
Here it is! I pull up at the lights. The engine will sometimes fluctuate, I rev the engine and it will go back to normal. This can happen once a week or once a month or several times a week or several times a month. Skoda have not got a clue. I have asked the local garage to take a look at the butterfly, to no avail, the garage said it was clean. Now and again the EMU light will come on but, by the time I get it to the dealers the light has gone out so cannot tell me as to the the problem.

first things first... check for air leaks!!! if ok then for the sake of a few quid change the coolant temp sensor. but, i beleive the idle air control valve is in the throttle body. these do misbehave.even if the butterfly looks good. start with that!! hope this helps!!
