MDF screen keeps disappearing

When I turn on the ignition the MDF screen flashing on and then disappears and I just have the car outline on the screen. Pressing the switch on the end of the right hand column doesn't show the display menu which it use to do. It has been very cold and I didn't know if that might be the cause. It has vanished before but always able to get it back but not now
