2001 Seat Leon flat battery or charging problem

Battery was very flat this morning. Jump started the car and drove 35 miles to work without a problem. Finished work and the same story. Push started the car & drove home. As soon as I got home I stopped the engine then turned on the ignition and headlight but they where very, very faint. Tried to start the car but the engine barely turned over once. Is this a flat battery or a problem with the charging curcuit?

Firstly I would check the obvious like is there a warning light illuminated on your dash which indicates a charging failure? This could be a broken fan belt or a fault with the alternator.
Secondly if your battery is not a maintenance free type, check the levels of battery fluid in each cell by unscrewing the caps (the fluid should cover the tops of the plates inside).
Did you have your car sat for a couple of weeks without use before this? If so, all you may need to do is give the battery an overnight charge.
If your battery still doesn't hold a charge after these checks then it may be faulty. Try your motoring breakdown service who may check it for you, or a local garage to test for your fault.

Sounds like dud battery .If your battery has a weak / dud cell it wont hold a charge .If you call into any fast fit depot or good accessory shop they will test your battery and alternator output while you wait , usually Foc .Simple tests to carry out .If still having probs after that , get back to board .
