2006 Seat Leon coolant level warning coming on

coolant level warning light comes on - no visible leaks
undo header tank cap and level comes back up albeit i have still used some coolant so it must be going somewhere
any ideas or if this is a known problem with leon tdi

If you get a pressure test on cooling system it should show any external leaks . If still having problems ,a sniff test (block test ) will tell you if head gasket faulty .

I had the same issue so i cleaned the contacts in the expansion tank (basically scraped them wit ha long knife) improved conductivity, light went out. Light must default to on if it doesn't know whats going on.
