Your car should still be under warranty ? if so get it booked in to dealership for fixing . Both faults may / may not be connected or might be a known fault that a software update could be available to correct

Lot of possible causes and wouldn't like to give you suggestions that could be wrong and cost you time and money . Scanning for fault codes with Vagcom or similar is best way to go in my opinion

Thank you for update , now got to find out why . Some causes , fuel pressure regulator, pump, injectors , fuel tank , fuel filter , fuel rail, etc .

forgot to mention the stop/start system is not working. have turned everything off.

Stop / start mode not working is usually caused by a low car battery condition

had start/stop issue with a previous car n took for long run and was ok after. did same with this car - no joy. it works internittantly.

Going for a long run lets the alternator boost the battery up and can solve this fault . But factors like condition of battery initially and what electrics . like heater / headlights /wipers / rear demist / aircon etc being used on trip can negate the charge input .

just back from seat after they checked car. they say nothing wrong with it. am taking to my own garage for 2nd opion.

Hope your own garage can find what is causing the problem and you can get back to Seat with it . Thank you for updating the forum

took car to my own garage after seat did diagnostic check with no fault showed up although a fault showed up 2 weeks earlier when my garage did it. my garage then done another diagnostic check but nothing showed up. he said its possible faults can be cleared via diagnostic check. took car for 70 mile drive but still no stop/start working. today epc light on again saying error stop/start.
