Unable to engage reverse

For a couple of weeks it has been difficult getting reverse gear, not crunching just tight , then today i was unable to get reverse but this time it was engaging first. I am getting all forward gears with no difficulty at all and no funny noises.

Does it get any easier to engage reverse if you pump the pedal a few times..??????
