The front suspension feels non existent when travelling over pot holes and ruts, it's so bad it feels as though the bottom is about to part company with the rest of the car.

If as bad as you say , get another garage for an examination and report on your concerns . Many factors need checking and faults are usually pretty apparent when as bad as you are finding when driving .
