2009 Seat Altea front n/s door not opening with remote

The remote central locking opens all the doors except the front n/s passenger door. The door opens using the internal latch and locks using the remote. You can hear the mechanism operating but it doesn't open. I can only see the whole mechanism with the door card off and wanted to check if there is a common fix before I try replacing this as they are quite expensive.
