1964 Rover P4 fuel not getting to engine all the time

Car: Rover P4
Year: 1964
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Have fuel in tank, symtoms are the same as running out of petrol, car stops, put in a gallon of fuel, car is ok for a while then stops again, have fitted facet ceramic pumps.
Have removed pipe from carb and sometimes appears to be like an air lock, switch pump on and it comes through ok. have checked tank pipes inside, all ok. no petrol leaks so assume no air leaks. Any ideas?

Fuel fliter ?

hi there. hope this may help. check metal fuel pipes for any kinks or crimping, check rubber pipes are not perished, and not collapsing on suction, check air is getting air into the tank, some cars have a air hole in the filler cap. some have a breather pipe in the filler neck. also check fuel evaporation under the bonnet, as unleaded evaporates at a lower temperature than leaded petrol. hope all this helps. i also run a classic, and we must love and cherish them. good luck.
