2005 Rover CityRover headlights, sidelights not working.

Car: Rover CityRover
Year: 2005
Variant: 1.4 Select
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
All headlights and sidelights not working. I have changed/tested all fuses and relays
but all are sound.
Since this has affected all lights in this circuit I feel it has to be something central or simple. Or am I dreaming.
Switch seems OK though and all bulbs are OK.
Everything else on the car is fine.
Any suggestions most welcome...and PLEASE do not suggest getting rid of the car, I've heard all the ones about cityrover but it's still a great little runabout.
Thanx, MJB

is it all the side lights including dash lights that arent working or is it just the front. how did you test the switch and fuses?

Hi, I have tested all fuses visualy and by replacing each in turn with known good fuses. All relays tested by standard relay test ie. that the armature is clicking when I run a current across.I realise I have more testing to do here, such as testing the other side of the relay and checking the multi plugs etc before starting on loom continuity.
Just had AA out because of flat battery, new battery fitted, and he has suggested checking the main switch - which is on my things to do list.
There are no side/marker lamps working nor dipped or mains headlamps and no dash light indicators either.Nor no mains blue indicator.
Thanks for you interest. Any suggestions most welcome.
Thanx mjb.

the switch may be the likly suspect as it the the common component that links all the lights

Many thanks delboy_11,

Spot on!
When I checked the switch, part of it had obviously overheated. Needed to clean up terminals etc. I wondered why the fuse hadn't gone though.
Switch problem plus dodgy conection between harnesses made this fairly difficult to sort.
All is OK now, fully working
Manyt thanks for your help. Star Man.
Best Regards,
Malcolm Bedford
