2002 Rover 75 intermittent loss of power

Car: Rover 75
Year: 2002
Variant: 2 ltr Connoiseour Deisel
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Intermittent problem whilst driving my 2ltr Deisel Rover 75 I experience a loss of power for a couple of seconds can and does happen on all speeds.Initially I thought it was dirty fuel replaced fuel filter x 2,still the same It might not happen every day, but it has become more regular lately. It could be a dangerous problem when overtaking with cars behind.
When I press on the accelator during that period it will not rev.
