2001 Rover 75 fuel starvation

When the fuel tank is a quarter full and travelling uphill for any length of time the engine cuts out. If car is faced down hill the engine will re-start.Have replaced diesel fuel filter under bonnet

there is a fuel pump on the tank replace the filter,then try,if not needs new pump.

check the fuel pressure readings,common fault on these cars was the tank unit and lift pumps were a common fault,check the fuel pressure readings
