Hi..I,ve been told that i have lost all the fluid in the clutch master cylinder, and to repair it the gearbox needs to come out, which will cost around £800. is this true? Can this be repaired cheaper, or is it as big a job to what i,ve been quoted...All ideas greatly recieved

If it's clutch slave that's leaking , it means box out to replace . If so you would be advised to check / replace clutch at same time . If it's the master cyl . you don't need to take box out .Only prob. is sometimes when you replace a leaking master cyl . it shows up any weaknesses else where i.e slave cyl .

if yoiu need to replace the clutch master cylinder,it is located inside the car up behind the dash board and the fluid needs to be topped up from inside the car,it is a really fiddly job to do this.
