1999 Rover 75 clutch problem

Clutch dropped straight to floor and wouldn't work, couldn't change gears. After 5 minutes clutch came back up and has been OK for last 20 miles. What's the problem??

this sounds like either the hydraulic thrust bearing is failing if one is fitted or it is the clutch master cylinder check the fluid level to see if you have fluid loss
