mainly when in waiting traffic car tends to feel like it wants to jolt forward,rev seem to fluctuate and car makes a funny noise intermittently hard to describe but low to high pitch weeerrp. Also have a whining noise possibly from my alternator.

i would clean the MAF sensor using correct cleaning fluid think halfords sell it (dont use carb cleaner)check air filter or replace also check clean throttle body and check intercooler pipes for leaks and any vac pipes breather pipes etc

The symptoms you describe it could be anything ,best to get it scanned for any fault codes to lead a fault trace ,maybe the bearings are away in your alternator or freewheel pulley the only way to check that is remove the fan belt and spin it by hand.

when was the last time the auto box fluid was changed? If you do not know,change it. The weeeerrp could be the belt slipping. Is it loose on the pulley?
