2004 Rover 75 can't open passenger doors or boot.

Remote battery went, replaced but car now stuck in "super lock" mode. Can't revert to normal settings, dare I disconnect the battery to resolve?

try to re -programme fob as explained in handbook you need to do this after battery replacement
