2004 Rover 75 strange noise when turning steering wheel sharply...new!

Car: Rover 75
Year: 2004
Variant: auto club
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Recently when turning steering wheel it makes a strange noise?
Also a clucking sound when cold starting...have had tappets replaced, and more, but noise persists when starting, and stops when engine is hot, almost sounds like fan belt is hitting on something loose?
Also sometimes a knock with gear change, like a delay?
Thanks, i just love this car and would like to have it perfect.
I have owned 6 Mercs and 10 BMW's......nothing compares to this car!

Noises turning steering could be power steering pump or belt .Could check PAS oil level .Try running with belt off ( if possible )and see if noise goes away .Check ATF level for gear change delay .Got to disagree with you comparing the Rover against Mercs or BMW.

Unfortunetly they were not perfect new ,check your belt tensioner is not worn, check gear linkage for wear.
