2003 Rover 75 cutting out for no apparent reason.

Several times my engine has cut out without any prior warning. It just dies for no apparent reason.
After waiting for 2 or 3 minutes the car will start and it will be fine for a few days or sometimes weeks at a time, then it will happen again.
My garage had it on there computer last week but nothing showed up.
Is this ringing any bells with anyone or has anyone any idea what the problem might be?

Hi does is happen more in wet weather? The ecu on these sit in the bulkhead under the passenger side wiper.very prone to water ingress if the rubber drain plug is blocked..
