2002 Rover 75 tailgate lock not holding tailgate shut

Variant: tourer diesel
The tailgate is not always staying shut. the lock is released as soon as the driver door is open. if I hold the tailgate door handle button and then shut it, it sometimes holds, but if I just slam it down without holding the button the tailgate stays open.

try adjusting the lock reciever , or check its not lose
