2000 Rover 75 number plate lighyts

My number plate lights only work when it has been raining heavily. Obviously there is a short or something. Has anyone else had this problem? How can it be rectified?

Hi sounds like a bad earth,just check your earth on the light,unit,some times water can give you an earth,or giving it a heavy (tap)will work,only a little job to fix
