i was wondering if you could help me i went to my rover the other day and it kept cutting out after checking the spark plugs and found out one wasnt working changed it then i had a dead battery took it off but now the car wont crank over thought it could be the immobliser but after looking on the web not so sure as it opens the door with the fob and when i put the key in the ignition it bleeps at me as always then i press the button and the beeping stops as usual but there is no spark to the coil was wondering if it is the immobliser or does any one else have any ideas cant see it being the immobliser as the alarm does go off aswell if i dont turn it off

i would look at the engine contol/ fuel pump relay box. these do play up frequently. if that is ok, then possible crankshaft sensor fault. without that sensor signal the coil does not send a spark. hope this helps!!

Hi,my car is a rover 420 td r reg,I drove up to the house and parked, prior to stopping the engine there was a sound as if it was strugling to get air. I came out next morning to start the car turned the key over and over but no joy, 2 weeks before I had replaced the turbo and it had sucked all the oil from the sump. I thought it was choking due to a blocked intercooler but bypassing it made no difference can any one help me,thanks.
