1998 Rover 400 key fob not working

The key fob doesnt seem to be deactivating my immobiliser, ive changed the fob battery it still doesnt work. When i put the key in the ignition i get a solid red light and a constant beeping, i havent got the alrm code because i bought it 2nd hand 18 months ago, has anybody got any ideas of a sollution.

do you have a valet button on your dashboard ? or take it to a garage and they will re-set it for you

resyncronise the fob by removing the battery inside it then hold the buttons for about 5 seconds to drain the fob then put them back in next unlock the car with the key and quickly press the lock button 4 times it should lock on the fourth then press the unlock button

ive just had a similer problem,i ended up getting an autoelectrition out. after about 30mins of faffin about it turned out to be the earth lead being knackered. after replacing the lead my 400 starts no problem.im not saying you have the same problem but check it anyway,it could be a big cash saving.(a new lead £5 or over £100 for a fob).
