2002 Rover 25 will not fire up!

Car: Rover 25
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.4 impression manual petrol
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Please help!
Was driving my rover 25 then it started running really rough, like the petrol had run out! It stalled and I started it again and ran real rough and cut out! Put fuel in it and tried again, this time it wouldnt start at all. It will turn over but won't fire up!!
There seems to be a faint High pitch constant beep under the bonnet coming from around the fuel rail area, also you turn the ignition on then off and there is some noise from that dames areas like a clicking and fluid sound! Not sure if that has anything to do with it?
Any ideas please cause I'm now stuck..thanks

Check you are getting spark and fuel . Might be a good idea to check plugs also to get an indication if all cyls are firing due to previous rough running .

Hi,
I recently had an issue with my newly purchased Rover 25 whereby I was stood in traffic and the engine cut out. When I tried to restart it, it was cough and splutter and eventually the engine maintenance light came on. I couldn't drive it so I got Green Flag (who I'm a member of) to take me back home. I then took it to a garage to look at and it was a clogged fuel filter. This sounds similar to what you're experiencing as there was also a small amount of noise coming from the engine when I tried to restart it. Maybe check all filters first before taking it to a garage.
