Speedo not working when radio connected

Recently brought a 2002 Rover 25 with no radio/cd connected. Installed an LG radio/cd (using existing Rover radio connections) and the speedo ceased to work. When I disconnect the stereo unit the speedo works. Has anybody any thoughts?

wiring harness has been played with try finding ignition switch for the radio or run a wire from ignition to the back of the radio this might solve the problem
