Fuel gauge not moving

Usually caused by a faulty tank sender unit .

can u fix this yourself easily or will it cost

if you disconnect the fuel sender unti wiring plug and bridge the wires,switch the ignition on and the fuel gauge needle should go to full,this will check the gauge and wiring are ok,if the gauge still does`nt move then you may have a faulty gauge,you can change the fuel sender unit quite easily,remove the locking ring by tapping it round with a flat screwdriver and removing the sender unit,check the float is`nt sticking,when you renew the sender you will need to use a new sealing ring

Think you might find the tank unit is held in with screws and not a locking ring .Also the tank has to be dropped for access , but could be wrong .

have a look at the tank and see whether the tank has to be dropped or there is an access plate underneath rear seat squab

thanks,its gone up from 1/4 tank but doesnt go below 1/4 tank so i dont know when petrols running any lower than that and the fuel warning light isnt comming on to worn me either,it was showing 1/4 tank today but i ran out ,only worning i got was spluttering.
