Head Gasket skim?

2000 Rover 25
Car: Rover 25
Year: 2000
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
I bought a Rover 25 the other day (needed a cheap car as my other died). Apparently it had the head gasket skimmed recently. Is there anything I need to do to follow that up? Apparently the garage need to tweak something after you have driven it a little while. I don't know when it was skimmed, or how to tell if it actually was. Also, what sort of costs should I be expecting? I don't want to spend much on it, it is just to get me by until I can afford a better car. Thanks
