Engine Management Light: stored code P0170

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, the code scanner I got works well. I cleared the P0170 code ('fuel trim') and turned off the engine management light prior to a trip down the M1.

About four miles down, and at 'normal' motorway speeds, I lifted off the accelerator fairly quickly as someone decided to occupy the space not far in front of my bonnet at short notice. As my foot came off, the light came on and the stored code is, again, P0170.

I know that the possible causes are 'intake leak, air system, fuel pressure/pump. Injectors, EVAP cannister purge valve and HO2S' along with a 'blip'.

Anyone able to offer any suggestions on which is the most likely cause knowing now the circumstances in which the light illuminated?

fuel pressure/pump could mean you are in need of a new fuel filter
