2001 Rover 25 electric windows not working

Both front electric windows have stopped working when I press the button it makes a load of noise but nothing happens. The windows were change from manual to electric when I bought the car, if that helps.

If you can hear the window motor operating , it's a case of stripping down door trim to see what's happening with the regulator or mechanism it has been changed to .
