2002 Rover 25 heater will not work

The fan fan works fine!
The control knob will only rotate to the `neutral` position from the cold area,but I am unable to move the knob any further to the red area. It appears to be jammed, although I am able to turn the knob back easily to the cold area. How difficult is it to reach the problem part? Thank you !

Cant remember for sure if it was on that car that the retaining clip for holding control outer cable clip used to go , hindering correct operation .You need to get behind the panel and check that and also if attached at other end to heater valve / linkage set up . This is the only link that explains it I can find at the moment ,
