2003 Rover 25 noise when i accelerate

When I accelerate i have a bell type noise coming from the engine. Some days it's OK I have been told it could be the big ends and few other things when I go up hills it comes back can't understand it any one help please many thanks

Could be pinking / pre igniting due to a number of causes , fuel , timing out .

I might just get it booked in the garage and get them to have a look at it see if they can solve the problem it's running as it should just strange to hear a bell type noise
