Radiator fan?

2000 Rover 25 1.4
Car: Rover 25
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.4
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
I have just fitted a new radiator to my rover 25. The problem is I don't know if the fan is working. Does it work after a few minutes when the car is stationary or does the car have to be moving for the fan to kick in? Any answers will be appreciated, thanks.

Fan kicks in dependant on temp rating on thermal sensor/ switch. On a lot of car radiators it has to be very hot before it will start.

the cooling fan on your car is controlled by the ecu which recieves a signal from the engine coolant temp sensor this is located on the water elbo where the top hose fits it is the one with the black connector the one underneath with blue connector operates the temp gauge to check the fan is in working order with ignition on remove the black connector the fan should now work re-connect and run engine be patient and your fan will eventually come on but it does need to be hot keep a check on temp gauge just over half way on gauge it should come on one problem with these engines is incorect bleeding of cooling system which can allow engine to overheat and damage head gasket if heater in car is nice and hot you should be ok
