2003 Rover 25 rear wiper not working

This has got me stumped...!!!
The Rear Wiper on my Rover 25 only works when the boot is open..When i close the boot the wiper stops working..????
Also the washer is not working when the boot is open or shut but the motor pump works
Any feedback or a solution please

Check for broken wiring where it passes through into tailgate .
