Clunk on full steering lock

2000 Rover 25 1.4 Petrol
Car: Rover 25
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.4 Petrol
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I had occasion today to turn the Car around in a tight circle at full lock. I noticed what I would call a "clunk" i.e. A few times in completing the circle it felt as if the Car went over a hosepipe or similar object on the ground eventhough it was a smooth Tarmac surface. What might be the problem and possible cure.

Thanks.

Witty. Thanks for that - would I prolong the life of same if I packed the CV Booth's with grease as it / they are not making the Tapping noise?.
