2002 Rover 25 cant select gears when car is warm fine when cold

when the car is cold clutch is fine after about 10 miles it starts to get difficult to to engage gears then cant select any gears it feels like the clutch does not engage enough feels like a slack cable but it an auto adjust cable the car creeps forward when in gear only when i got the prob

first check that the cable is adusting t there is no slack in the cable but it sounds like the clutch needs replacing
