1998 Rover 200 head gasket

Car: Rover 200
Year: 1998
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I think my head gasket has blown as the water tank has started losing water & bubbling and loss of power also after I bought the car I became aware of the problems rover cars have with this. How much will it roughly cost to replace the whole head gasket is it worth doing or will it fail again within a very short space of time.

to replace it you would be looking around the £200 mark as the head will require skimming and if the job is done right you should be hassle free for a few years but dont hold me to that but like you say the rovers are well known for there problems

You will be doing well to get that job done correctly for £200 . I wouldn't touch it a that price .

P.S

This verifies price for job done right should be around £350 . http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=324653
