2000 Rover 200 cutting out when stationary and driving

when driving, the engine just cuts out and battery warning light and the oil light illuminants. and the alarm seems to b goin off but dim. and the buttons to turn it off dont work then i have to go under the hood n just nudge the wires connected to the battery then it all works again i assumed it was dirty terminals but is still happening since the've been cleaned.

Might be worth checking wiring and socket at alternator.

Would also check earth points, on gearbox and around engine bay, friend had similar problem, found one of the earth cables nearly worn through
