1996 Rover 200 exhaust emissions

Car: Rover 200
Year: 1996
Variant: 214i 1.4litre
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
My Rover recently failed it's MOT on the exhaust emissions, primarily the CO levels.

Can anyone suggest any ideas in order to reduce these and get my car through it's MOT?

I had though of the Catalytic Convertor....or having the car tuned, would these do the trick?

prob cause would be the o2 sensor - suggest you get a local garage to carr out a diagnostic check and see what fails. If dat all ok - could be a number of things [blocked cat, air leak at manifold / head leak etc].
good luk.

doesnt allways work but put some fuel treatment in to the petrol or diesel which ever you have but that usually works for me and then move on to the sensors if you can get hold of some forte treatment as its the best on the market

cheers for the ideas...I got a 2nd mot done and the emissions are just as bad after the engine treatment with Redex.

Is it the lambda sensor that would be my next port of call do you reckon?

Best to check / replace air filter first . Just noticed another 6 year old post , doubt he is still waiting on the other end for a reply !!!!
