Battery drain

my rover 200 has a problem that seams to drain the battery flat overnight. i have had the starter and the alternator checked at a garage and they seam to be functioning ok.i have no warning lights on on the dashboard and the car runs ok .when the battery has discharged when parked overnight it can be recharged after a couple of hours and then will start and appears to run ok but after changing the battery twice the problem reappears after a couple of days can anybody help me as each time this happens i lose work

Hi Steve, its worth checking that the light in the boot and glove box (if it has one) are not staying on when the lid is shut. These are usually permantly live, so will come on without the ignition on if the switches are faulty

Try disconnecting the battery over night for a couple of nights to eliminate a faulty battery. If car starts and battery does not discharge when battery is disconnected, then there is a parasitic drain somewhere. Could also get battery load tested... Then by process of elimination, you could disconnect the starter, alternator, or any part that may discharge the battery one by one. Thus eliminating that part from the list...

I am having the same problems with my rover right now.
