1993 Rover 100 gearstick vibrating stangely when in 1st

When in neutral, 1st or 2nd gear the gearstick has started vibrating strangely and can hear a weird noise. Once going it is fine! This only happens when the car is either in traffic or going slowly...any ides whats wrong?!

all i can say to this one is check the engine mounts and other mountings supporting the engine and gearbox if you are not to sure have a garage give t the once over the vibrations could even be the exhaust catching the gear mechanism
