Having had the car in reverse gear, sometimes when changing into first and second gear it feels as if the linkages are jamming up and I have to force gear lever into neutral. Then it will be ok till the next time it happens

Sometimes having driven in reverse, when then trying to change to first and second gear the gear lever has to be forced into neutral and then all is ok. It only happens every now and then. Feels like the selector rods are jamming together. Still its a worrying situation.
