2011 Renault Modus poor gearchange

when changing 1st to 2nd gear bear linkage seems to jam up and I have to force gear stick to get it out of gear and into neutral before selecting 2nd gear . Its as if it is jammed in gear.

Usually worn gear linkage / cables .
