2005 Renault Modus cant open petrol cap cover

Do you get a strange rattly whirring noise coming from the locking flap when you lock and unlock the car? if so the solenoid pin has snapped. You can "usually" force the flap open with bare fingers in an emergency. If the solenoid is not buzzing it may have failed electrically in which case you can use the manual override which is either in the boot or via the rear wheel arch. (not sure on the Modus)
