2005 Renault Modus tailgate open warning light stays on

all other items working ok.this fault nullifies my hands free mode.tailgate locks ok when card button pressed.have removed lock and appears to be operating ok. is this a lock switch fault or an instrument panel fault.

as you open the boot of your car there will be 3 or 4 gold conections on the tailgate and on the car itself and when you close the tailgate they touch and it tells the car it is shut but if you get a wire brush and just give it a little scrub on the 4 gold conections on the car an the 4 on the tailgate your car will be working like it should :D
