1998 Renault Megane my alarm wont work

i need help with my renault megan scenic .. the alrm wont work .. i have read the haynes manual .. and it says the is a switch in the cglove box to set it ..but there is nothing in the glove box .. could you please help me .. everything else works immobiliser.. please help if you can
