I have also tried locking and unlocking yes it might start or might not .Its driving me mad . If i leave it for about 20 mins after trying to get it to start then it start!! The other day i dropped the bonnet down and hey presto this worked too .I no its not the starter motor as that has been looked at. Can anybody help !

ok this sounds like a easy fix for yourself to do pop the bonnet and all the electrical connections that you can see pull them apart one at a time and push back together again as this sounds like a simple bad connection and even spray some wd40 in to the connections to clean the contacts up do this and you should have a happy running car again

Thanks for the responce . Tried what you suggested still giving me problems . Somebody mentioned it could be a faulty crank sensor . What do you think and if so where is it ?

had diagnostic check could not find fault ? ALL that showed up was some air in exhust? Garage say not crank sensor as car would be difficult to start mornings then would be fine all day ,any other suggestions .

A failing crank sensor does not always show on a diagnostic check and can cause all sorts of different symptoms not just a cold start problem, they can cause problems at any temperature and can fail whilst driving not just starting so you have been misinformed by your garage. Take it to a garage equipped with a scope so they can see clearly what sort of pattern the sensor is sending to the ecm. In my experience with these vehicles i would say 9 out of ten times it is the crank sensor that has been at fault with intermitant starting.

car booked in for diagnostic check next week at local renault garage want £82 for the privlige !! But since my own garage have cleared the fault code re air showing in exhaust which they say is mostly caused by town driving , which i do a lot, its now not giving me any problems and starting ok . Will Renault still be able to locate the fault ?
