1997 Renault Megane key fob not unlocking the car so it won't start

Car: Renault Megane
Year: 1997
Variant: 1.6 RT classic
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The only way to start the car to my knowledge is by triggering the immobiliser when opening the car with the key fob, for some reason the key fob will not now work even though the light comes on on the fob. Is there any other way of starting the car or is this gonna cost me an arm and a leg. Have checked the connections in the sensor they look fine, not sure where the cables connect under the bonnet, otherwise may have to cut the foot well out and drive it like fred flintstone. Any ideas? I could do without shelling out a for the bloody thing.

try this http://renaulthelp.110mb.com/immbypass.html
this will get you going aa bypass your imobilisor
note:this is a renault factory method and you need the key so no good for steeling cars.this shouldnt affect note above.

Just like to say thanks for your help, your solution solved everything, I managed to get the code for the car immobiliser and also re-sync my key fob. Saved me a few quid I reckon, thanks again.
