1999 Renault Megane starting problems

Hi. I have a 1999 Renault Megane 1.6 sport that has starting problems. Sometimes it starts fine and other times I have to turn the engine up to a dozen times before it will fire up. There's no rhyme or reason to when it won'tstart. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.Thanks

Could try changing the engine coolant temp sensor which sends info to the ECU regarding fuel requirements .
