1996 Renault Megane car was lurching intermittently

Car: Renault Megane
Year: 1996
Variant: Saloon Classic
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I had been driving for quite a few minutes, when the car starting lurching intermittently. I think I was in third gear and because the car slowed down so much, I had to change down through the gears. I'm not sure if it was my fault but the car stalled every time I got it into first gear. This happened four or five times over about ten minutes. I then stopped and parked up for a while and left it alone for a few minutes. I then drove it again for a couple of minutes, parked it up again. Sometime later I drove it again and their was no problems. Some years ago I had a similar problem where it turned out to be some rubbish in the fuel line, I was wondering that it might be the same thing?

firstly would have a full service done if you havnt had one done for a while as i would say some dirt in the fuel filter aswell only because you say it was intermittent and not all the time

Could be an air flow problem or surprisingly a dodgy earth. Check the black earth wire in the boot to make sure nothing has damaged or misplaced it. I had the same poblem with mine. Then check that all pipes are properly connected and there is nothing hanging loose unde the bonnet. Hope this helps
